Artificial intelligence is a great opportunity to break down barriers within societies and reduce inequality. This is the message that comes from the debate that was organised yesterday by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales on the occasion of the Mass for Social Communications.
At St. Monica’s elementary school in Hoxton square, one of London’s oldest and most beautiful squares, in Hackney Borough, three experts in the IT industry that produces software and hardware that will one day replace the human mind, discussed the ethical and social aspects of this revolution, moderated by BBC journalist Sally Bundock.
In front of a large group of Catholic and non-Catholic journalists, ethics expert Jaswant Sambhi, Elena Sinel with her daughter Victoria, who works to promote new technologies among young people, and David Barker, an IT ethical entrepreneur, spoke about the potential and limits of artificial intelligence.
The event was preceded by a mass celebrated by Bishop John Arnold of the Diocese of Salford, in charge of the media sector of the Bishops’ Conference.
