COMECE: Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto next General Secretary. He will succeed Fr. Poquillon on 1 September

(Brussels) Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto will be the next General Secretary of COMECE, the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union. Fr. Barrios Prieto will succeed Fr. Olivier Poquillon on 1 September 2019. His mandate, according to the new statute of COMECE, will last four years. “Under the new General Secretary – a statement reads -, COMECE will continue its mission of dialogue with the EU institutions, working for the common good and promoting Catholic perspectives on topics of competence of the European Union”. The new General Secretary will meet the press on 16 September on the occasion of the COMECE Standing Committee in Brussels which will bring together the future General Secretary, Mgr. Jean-Claude Hollerich, President of COMECE, and the Vice Presidents Mgr. Mariano Crociata, Mgr. Noel Treanor, Mgr. Franz-Josef Overbeck, and Mgr. Jan Vokál.
