Young people: Brussels, 102 pupils from across the EU to take part in 2019 edition of “Your Europe Your Say!”

(Brussels) 102 pupils from 34 schools across Europe have arrived in Brussels today to participate in the 2019 edition of “Your Europe Your Say!” (#YEYS2019), the event aimed at young people aged 16 to 18, organized by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which has ended its spring Plenary Assembly today. Now in its tenth edition, the event, which will take place today and tomorrow, was launched in 2009 to “connect young people with the EU”. This year’s edition is dedicated to the European elections and is entitled “Vote for the future!”. Today the youth visited the House of European History and were welcomed at the headquarters of the EESC. The official opening will take place in the afternoon with a speech by EESC President Luca Jahier. Today and tomorrow, the pupils will have several opportunities to work in groups and draw up resolutions containing “ideas, proposals and hopes for their future as European citizens” on a range of issues affecting them (from education to culture, from work to migrations). The proposals will be voted on tomorrow afternoon, 22 March, at a plenary session chaired by EESC Vice-President Isabel Caño. The most voted proposals will be submitted to the relevant European institutions.
