Training: Erasmus+, Serbia becomes fully-fledged member of the EU program. New opportunities for young people and schools

(Brussels) “I am very pleased to welcome Serbia as a fully-fledged Erasmus+ Programme Country. This new status will allow Serbia to participate in more actions in the fields of higher education and youth, start its involvement in sport, vocational education and training as well as in actions for school and adult education staff”. The EU Commissioner for Education and Culture, Tibor Navracsics, and the Minister for Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Mladen Šarčević, signed an agreement in Brussels today to enhance Serbia’s participation in the Erasmus+ programme. Commissioner Navracsics added: “Serbia is already an active partner in the Erasmus+ programme: since 2014, almost 7,000 Serbian students and staff have experienced a learning period abroad, and around 4,300 Europeans have gone to Serbia to study or teach. By becoming an Erasmus+ Programme Country, Serbia participates in Erasmus+ on an equal footing with EU Member States, as is already the case for Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”.
