EU: Youth Week and “Go to vote” contest, “concrete and innovative” projects to encourage voting

(Brussels) The European Youth Week 2019 will take place from 29 April to 5 May. “Democracy and me” is the theme that will inspire events in the countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme (European Union, plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Turkey and Northern Macedonia). Youth organizations, schools, town councils and informal groups are invited to organise an event or activity those days and to register it on the platform that will be launched at the beginning of March. The activities and events will be disseminated on social networks #youthweek and #democracyandme. The European Youth Week will feature special events also in Brussels and Strasbourg, the cities hosting the European institutions. Meanwhile, the “Go to vote” contest has also been launched: participants are asked to prepare an “Action plan” for “cool, concrete and innovative projects” to encourage friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to go out and vote in the European elections. The projects are to be posted on the Facebook page “Go to vote”. The three lucky winners will be announced on 12 March. They will win a three-day trip to Strasbourg and Brussels during the European Youth Week.
