Hungarian Bishops: grateful and waiting for Papal visit to Marian shrine of Csíksomlyó on 1 June

The Hungarian Bishops are grateful to receive the invitation of the Transylvanian bishops on the occasion of Pope Francis’ visit to Romania. “We encourage Hungarian Catholics – a statement from the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference reads – and all people of good will” to join in the celebration that Pope Francis will preside over at the Marian shrine of Csíksomlyó (Șumuleu Ciuc, Romania) on 1 June. The shrine – the statement explains – is a place “dear to us” and “will be visited by the successor of Saint Peter for the first time in history”. For this reason, the traditional pilgrimage to Csíksomlyó will take place on the same day as the Pope’s visit this year. “Let us ask the Virgin Mary to be our advocate and helper” so that the Pope’s visit may bear abundant spiritual fruit.
