Holy See: Fr. Norbert Németh new rector of Hungarian Pontifical Ecclesiastical Institute

Following the nomination by the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference, the Holy See has appointed Fr. Norbert Németh, until now episcopal vicar for pastoral care at the Diocese of Szombathely, as rector of the Hungarian Pontifical Ecclesiastical Institute, the General Secretariat of the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference announced in a statement today. Norbert Németh was born in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, on 6 December 1976. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Szombathely on 14 June 2001. He obtained a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 2011. Since 1 August 2011, he has served as university chaplain. Since 2018, he has been episcopal Vicar for pastoral care at the Diocese of Szombathely and spiritual director at the St John Paul II Catholic College in Szombathely. Since 15 November 2018, he has performed the functions of rector of the Hungarian Pontifical Ecclesiastical Institute, based in Rome since 1928; it is a college for the permanent formation of priests sent by Hungarian dioceses.
