(Strasbourg) The Autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is getting ready to open from 8^th to 12^th October, to discuss the “upgrading of its decision-making process on powers and voting”, a continuation of last year’s inner reflections on PACE’s “role and mission”. The Parliamentary Assembly announced that its agenda will also include “a joint discussion on the foreign funding of Islam in Europe and the radicalisation of migrants and diasporic communities”. Then, the “treatment of Palestinian children in Israel’s legal system, agreements in criminal proceedings, and nuclear security in Europe” will be discussed as well; the agenda will also include “reports on migration from the perspective of gender equality, family reunions in the member states, and equal private life regardless of sexual orientation”. PACE will review “Serbia’s compliance with its commitments and duties” and will look into “cooperation between the Council of Europe and the UN systems for the protection of human rights”. Then, the Assembly will appoint the judges for the European Court for Human Rights, in connection with Albania, Norway and Turkey. The Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs will be a guest in Strasbourg for a debate with PACE. In addition, the winner of the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize 2018 will be announced and will receive the award in this session.
