Fires in Sweden: the situation of arsons is still serious. Rescuers from European Civil Protection service, Churches offering accommodation

Sixty firemen and staff of the French Civil Protection mechanism went to Sweden this morning, 140 Polish firemen with 44 vehicles went yesterday, Sunday, to assist two aircrafts from Portugal, helicopters and Canadair aircrafts from Germany, Norway, Italy, Denmark. These are the forces and countries that are at work right now to stop fires in Sweden; aids come through the European Civil Protection Mechanism to assist the local army and forces. The Country is grappling with about 60 burning fires, but the situation is changing all the time, though it is still the “worst ever faced by Sweden”, according to Dan Eliasson, director of the Swedish Civil Protection service. There are four fires that cannot be tamed, and new ones start every day. The fires are burning about 20 thousand hectares, Eliasson said. The website Krisinformation keeps issuing evacuation orders. Farming is on its knees, breeding is suffering. On the website of the Church of Sweden, a constantly updated list of communities offering accommodation and support to people affected by the fires. The Council of Churches has published a prayer: “Merciful God, we ask for the rain that puts out fires, that spares crops and cattle”, and “we pray You for the people who have left their homes. We thank You for the men and women who are busy fighting the fires, in civil protection services, in rescuing people”.
