The Special Representative of the Secretary General for Migration and Refugees, ambassador Tomás Bocek, will be in Bosnia Herzegovina from July 24^th to 27^th. The Council of Europe says that Bocek will meet government officers and leaders of international agencies “to discuss the current migrant challenges that Bosnia Herzegovina has to face as a member of the Council of Europe, in preparation to this year’s arrivals”. On July 25^th, the Special Representative will attend a ceremony for the signature of a loan agreement between the Council of Europe Development Bank (Ceb), the organiser of the event, and the International Organisation for Migration (Iom). Ceb will support Bosnia Herzegovina’s authorities with one million euros “to open a temporary shelter for over 400 people in Ušivak, near Sarajevo. The fund will cover the basic needs and will protect the human rights of the migrants and refugees who are currently in Bosnia Herzegovina”. In addition, the Special Representative will visit the shelters and detention centres around Sarajevo and Mostar. Beforehand, the Special Representative went to Greece and in the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, in Serbia, in the transit points in Hungary, and in Bulgaria.
