The upcoming climate meeting (COP24) in Katowice and the related issues to be addressed are the focus of the interview with Miguel Arias Cañete, European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, published in the latest issue of the monthly newsletter of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the EU (COMECE) “Europeinfos”, now available on line (at http://europe-infos.eu). The European Union would like the Parties in Poland to adopt “the rules of implementation of the Paris Agreement”, to “reach a consensus regarding the foundership”, as well as to “find the necessary financing for the budget hole left by the exit of the United States from the Green Climate Fund” and “the 100 billion euros needed by 2020 to help developing countries achieve the emissions reduction targets agreed in Paris”. Then Sylvie Goulard, former MEP and current deputy governor of the Bank of France, is entrusted with the task of explaining the status of the reform of the Economic and Monetary Union, after the Euro Summit on 29 June 2018.
