Switzerland: Palexpo Geneva, tickets for the Pope’s Mass on June 21st already sold out. “A success that exceeds all expectations”

Bookings for the Pope’s Mass at Palexpo Geneva on June 21st have had a “success that exceeded all expectations”, the diocese of Geneva, Lausanne and Freiburg writes on its website, after the opening of online bookings on June 1st. The 41 thousand tickets on offer for the Palexpo had already sold out in the afternoon of the first day. The bookings, as explained by the website of the diocese, came from parishes and “Catholic groups” of Switzerland “and nearby France”: 77% of the seats will be taken by Catholics from French-speaking Switzerland, 12% from German-speaking Switzerland, less than 1% from Italian-speaking Switzerland, and 11% from nearby France. “The diocese is glad of such enthusiasm and reminds those who could not get a ticket that Mass will be broadcast live on the national TV channels (Rts, Srf, Rsi)”, the note goes on. Pope Francis will officiate Mass for Swiss Catholics on June 21st at 05.30 pm, at the end of the day the Pope will be visiting the World Council of Churches.
