Balkans: COMECE, Conference on “Perspectives of the path to EU membership”

(Brussels) In between the recent EU-Western Balkans summit held in Sofia on 17 May and the Council of Europe to be held next 28 June – whose point 7 in the agenda is “external relations” – the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) – in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation – will analyse the process of European integration, trying to find a way to make it “credible”. Representatives of Churches, youth, and EU institutions will debate the “perspectives of the path to EU membership”, as well as the “necessary steps which can be made by the EU and the Western Balkan countries”, said the organisers. The debate is taking place in Brussels next 14 June. Among others, President of the International Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius Msgr. Ladislav Nemet, and Mare Uschkovska, student of international law in the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia will take part in it.
