Pope Francis: appeal to “be spiritually united” to Chinese Catholics

“Be spiritually united to all the Catholic faithful living in China”. Pope Francis made this appeal before greeting the Italian-speaking faithful at the end of his Wednesday Audience in St Peter’s Square today. “Tomorrow, 24 May, marks the annual feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary ‘Help of Christians’, particularly venerated at the shrine of Sheshan, in Shanghai, China”, Pope Francis said: “This anniversary invites us to be spiritually united to all the Catholic faithful living in China. Let us pray for them to our Lady, so that they may live their faith with generosity and serenity, and be able to make concrete gestures of fraternity, harmony and reconciliation, in full communion with the Successor of Peter”. The Pope then addressed Chinese Catholics, saying: “Dear disciples of the Lord in China, the universal Church prays with you and for you, so that even amidst difficulties, you may continue to entrust yourselves to God’s will. Our Lady will always help you and watch over you with her motherly love”.
