Slovenia: Ljubljana, feast at the Faculty of Theology. Mgr. Zore (archbishop), “studies focussed on evangelisation”

Mons. Stanislav Zore, arcivescovo di Lubiana

“There’s no theology without faith”: this was stated by the archbishop of Ljubljana, mgr. Stanislav Zore, Grand Chancellor of the Faculty of Theology, during the feast of the University, known as “Feast of St Thomas”. The event took place yesterday in the Slovenian capital, with a number of celebrations that have just been reported: Mass in the city’s St Nicholas Cathedral, academic address, presentation of diplomas. “For a future theologian – mgr. Zore added –whether turning the pages of a book or surfing the web, everything must be aimed at getting closer to God to bring other people to faith”. That’s why, the prelate claims, “all the work done by the Faculty of Theology must be focussed on evangelisation. Teachers must not only be expert in their discipline, they must be able to guide the students’ faith”. In his opinion, “the meaning of theology is opening up to our neighbours and to love. It would be nice if theologians could help us hear God speaking as if they were loudspeakers that carry His Word”. The archbishop of Ljubljana added that, “to learn theology, one must be humble enough to let oneself be touched by God, acknowledging one’s limits before His mystery”. The feast of the Faculty of Theology of Ljubljana, called feast of St Thomas, “Tomazeva proslava”, as a tribute to the great Doctor of the Church, takes place on the first Monday of March, every year.
