On Monday, 2 April, the two Polish Byzantine-rite dioceses will begin the Holy Week celebrations that will end on Sunday, 8 April, with the Resurrection celebrated a week after Catholics this year. In the Greek Catholic Church, the rites preceding Easter begin seven weeks earlier, on the so-called “Clean Monday”, but without the Rite of Ashes as opposed to what happens in the Latin Church. The Greek Catholic Church in Poland has about 100,000 faithful, of whom approximately one third participate in religious life.
