The Archdiocese of Berlin has launched a prayer initiative called “Adopt a priest” to support priests in their ministry. “Prayer for vocations is a task for the whole Church. But prayer to accompany those who already” serve as priests “is also essential”, the website of the archdiocese reads. The proposal is therefore to accompany with prayer for a year “the ministry of priests, who administer the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, who should also make Christ visible through their way of life”. On the website, you can indicate the name of a priest you wish to accompany in “prayer partnership” or you can decide to be “randomly” assigned the name of a priest. In the latter case, you will be given some information about the priest “assigned” to you. Everyone is free to pray as they wish and how they wish, but if you register for this initiative, via mail or email, you will also receive some tips for personal prayer. The promoter of the initiative is Deacon Thomas Marin.
