The “Centre for Christian-Islamic dialogue and documentation” (Cibedo), founded by the White Fathers in the late 1970s, but since 1998 responsible for providing this dialogue and research service for the German Bishops Conference, turns 40. The anniversary will be celebrated at the Catholic Academy in Berlin, on Friday 19^th October 2018: at 04:30 pm, the Vespers officiated by the bishop of Limburg, Georg Bätzing, who is president of the subcommittee for interreligious dialogue of the German Bishops Conference, and, at 06:00 pm, the ceremony, attended by the Federal President, Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with a speech on the prospects of Christian-Islamic dialogue in Germany given by cardinal Reinhard Marx, president of the German Bishops Conference. Other guest speakers will include mgr. Khaled Akasheh (Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue), Erol Pürlü (German Muslim Coordination Council), Handan Aksünger (Hamburg Academy of World Religions) and Hamideh Mohagheghi (University of Paderborn).
