Czech Republic: national celebrations for Fatima Jubilee to culminate during the first weekend of october

(Bratislava) – “Let us have the courage to make the world better according to the example of Christ” – with these words, the Czech Bishops´ Conference invites the faithful to participate in the main celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions in the Czech Republic. The program will start on 4 October with a theological and pastoral symposium in Hradec Kralove, where experts will speak about various aspects of the Jubilee from both a historical and contemporary perspective, as well as about Marian devotion in Moravia and Bohemia. Participation at this event is open to the public, but it is subject to registration. Speakers will offer deep insights into topics like “Victory of the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary”, “Ecclesiological challenges of the symbolism of Fatima”, “Fatima – project for rescuing humanity”, “The Virgin Mary and the Eucharist”, or “Significance of the apparitions for the Church”. The program will culminate with a round table that will be transmitted on television and radio on 7 October, when the Czech nation will be solemnly entrusted to the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary. In relation to the Jubilee, the bishops have issued special directions and information regarding the apparitions and their message, as certain lay groups used the occasion to spread speculations and disinformation that contradict the Magisterium of the Catholic Church in this regard.
