Russia: Moscow, Saint Thomas Theological Institute, webinar on “Christian witness between history and modernity”

The Theological Institute of Saint Thomas in Moscow will be holding a webinar entitled “Christian witness and identity between East and West: history and modernity”. The ten sessions are designed specifically “for those who are unable to attend the lectures given at our Institute in person or live outside the capital”, reads the website of the Institute, headed by Chilean Jesuit Tomás Garcia-Huidobro Rivas. Specifically, the aim of the course is to “deepen their knowledge of the past and present of Christian witness and offer further information on the testimony of their own religion, that of other Christian denominations, and that of other Christian religions in the East and in the West” in the knowledge that there are “pros and cons in each of them” in order to “overcome mutual prejudice”, reads the presentation of the “webinars”. Students will gain insights into history, theology and liturgy, art, contemporary dialogue. They will also be able to ask questions and participate in the discussion of the different topics. The lecturer will be Sergey Brune, scientific assistant at the Museum of Russian Icons, scholar and author of numerous publications on the history and art of the Christian East. The course will be held every Saturday at 12 (Moscow time) between 7 October and 16 December 2017; each seminar will last 1.5 hours.
