The meeting of young Catholics of the whole of Serbia will take place in Belgrade on 7 October. The event is organised by the Archdiocese of Belgrade under the motto “the Almighty has done great things for me”. “Coming together is very important for our young people – Mgr. Stanislav Hocevar, Archbishop of Belgrade, told SIR news agency – because they live in a specific situation” and “are part of different minorities: Hungarians, Croats, Albanians, Ukrainians, Slovaks, Czechs, Slovenians and Bulgarians, practically dispersed among the vast Serbian-Orthodox majority”. “For this reason – according to the prelate -, they have a strong need to feel and experience their Catholic ecclesial communion”. In his view, “young Catholics in Serbia are faced with a great challenge, that of staying in their homeland or going to the West, and the pastors must truly take care of their existential problems”. The programme will include catecheses in Croatian and Hungarian on “true friendship in the example of Mary”, a pilgrimage to the parish church of Saint Anthony of Padua in the Serbian capital, the community recitation of the Rosary, and the Mass presided over by Archbishop Hocevar, besides some moments of recreation.
