Council of Europe: a workshop on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue. A focus on migration

“What role for religious and non-religious groups” in the light of the “challenges and opportunities” raised by migrants and refugees coming to Europe: this is the question that is at the centre of the “exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue”, which the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will be hosting in Strasbourg on November 6th and 7th. After the institutional opening statements, the meeting will be split into two parts: a workshop with stories and debates about “reception of social inclusion: the role of religious and non-religious groups”, chaired by the Orthodox Metropolitan, Emmanuel of France. The second one will be about the “role of religious and non-religious groups in the development of migration policies”. In this case, the chairman will be Bülent Şenay, professor of history of religions and culture at Uludag University in Bursa, Turkey. The president of the French branch of Comunità Sant’Egidio, Valérie Regnier, will give a speech at the debate to tell about the experience of humanitarian corridors.
