(Brussels) A weekend marked by the European Council in Brussels (19-20 October) with a preview tomorrow, October 18th, offered by the “tripartite social summit” (EU, businesses and trade unions). The meeting will be focussed on “growth and employment” and the title is “Shaping the future of Europe: strengthening resilience and promoting economic and social progress for everyone”. As reported by the website of the European Council, discussions will cover three areas: the social dimension of Europe; the progress made and how to improve the involvement of trade unions in domestic policies and reforms; investments in learning in a digital economy and society. The trilateral social summit is a forum of dialogue, which brings together European Union’s institutional leaders and trade union executives. Employers are represented by BusinessEurope, the European Centre for employers and businesses or organisations that provide services of general interests, and the European Association of Craft and Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises. Trade unions are represented by the European Trade Union Confederation (Ces/Etuc).
