Poland: Bishops on plenary meeting on the 100th anniversary of the Catholic University of Lublin. Family life, youth and Synod on the agenda

Pastoral service for families – and new forms of unions – in the light of the Amoris laetitia, the problems of young people, matters concerning the national culture and cultural heritage, as well as the preparations for the next YWD in Panama: these will be the main items on the agenda at the 377th plenary assembly of the Polish Bishops Conference, due in Lublin from 13th to 15th October. The prelates will meet in the premises of the Catholic University of Lublin to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the university, which has now been named after by one of his professors, John Paul II. The Catholic University of Lublin is the third biggest university in Poland by number of students, after Cracow and Warsaw. Among the items on the agenda at the plenary meeting, the Bishops will focus above all on the youth pastoral programme. As pointed out by the director of the youth pastoral service, mgr. Marek Solarczyk, the Bishops will extensively discuss the preparations for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Mgr. Solarczyk will also tell the attendees about the state of the preparations for the 2018 Synod that Pope Francis dedicated to young people. The website in Polish www.synod2018.pl, where young people aged 16 to 29 can answer the questions in the run-up to the Synod about them, is online already.
