Slovakia: new school for disabled children opens in Stara Lubovna, tribute to year of mercy

(Bratislava) – The gates of a new special basic school dedicated to St. Ann have recently opened to ten disabled students in Stara Lubovna, Slovakia. The premises of the institution, founded and run by the Catholic Church, have been blessed by Msgr. Milan Lach, Auxiliary Bishop of the Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Presov. “I am very glad that its work starts within the Year of Mercy. Pope Francis invites all diocesan bishops to create works that will bear witness to mercy and convey its message for years and years to come”, says Msgr. Lach, pointing to the fact that the newly established school definitely meets this requirement. The institution offers suitable conditions for the education of children with disabilities, especially those who suffer from severe forms of autism, as these pupils require special social and health care. The school is situated at the premises of the House of St. Ann providing charitable and social services to children and young people in need in the region of Stara Lubovna.
