“‘Fear not, for I am with you’ (Is 43:5). Communicating hope and trust in our time”. This is the theme chosen by Pope Francis for the World Day for Social Communications 2017 (WDSC2017). The news was announced today (as is custom on the Feast of the Archangels) by the Holy See Press Office which released a communiqué from the Secretariat for Communication. The Day for Social Communications is celebrated in many countries on the Sunday before Pentecost (on 28 May in 2017). The Pope’s message for the Day is traditionally published on the occasion of the Feast of St Francis de Sales, patron saint of journalists (24 January). This Day is the only one established by the Second Vatican Council.
