Portugal: Lisbon, Justice and Peace meeting on “Tax System and Social Justice”

The Portuguese National Commission for Justice and Peace set up a meeting on “Tax System and Social Justice” at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation of Lisbon next 22 October. Following the programme, this year, during the event promoted by the Catholic body affiliated with the Portuguese Bishops’ Conference four big problems will be faced: “the tax system in the social doctrine of the church”; “tax System and social justice”; “ethics and taxes”; “what is fair contribution?”. The initial lectures before debate will be held by Jesuit Father Ildefonso Camacho, da Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins, da João Amaral Tomaz, and António Bagão Félix and Manuela Silva (together). Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon Msgr. Manuel Clemente and President of the Justice and Peace Commission Pedro Vaz Patto will take part in the opening ceremony of the Meeting. The final session will be presided over by Msgr. Jorge Ortiga, in charge of the Bishops’ Commission for Social Pastoral and Human Mobility.
