Nordic countries: Bishops’ Conference, pastoral letter “From conflict to communion” on Reform and visit of the Pope

The plenary assembly of the Bishops’ Conference of Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland) has just finished in Oslo. “The crucial element was the presence of Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, speaking also about the visit of the Holy Father to Lund, Sweden”, at the end of October, says the press release describing the programme of the visit and announcing that bishops will publish the pastoral letter about Reform commemoration and the visit of the Pope “From Conflict to Communion”, next 15 October. Debate was also about “concrete applications of Amoris Laetitia in the context of Nordic countries”. “Amoris Laetitia is a really beautiful and rich letter, with solutions to the difficult cases of the family pastoral”, said President of the Bishops’ Conference, the bishop of Copenhagen Czeslaw Kozon at the beginning. “Above all, it is a very accurate description of the family situation today, with many suggestions possibly integrated in the materials of our dioceses for preparation to marriage”, but also in the concrete questions relating to remarried divorced. The bishops were invited to Trondheim, Norway, for consecrating the new cathedral built up in 15 months. It will be consecrated on 19 November, by Card. Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, archbishop emeritus of Westminster and papal delegate.
