UK: Diocese of Cardiff, inviting distant ones to lunch and then cross the Holy Door together

Inviting non-practising family and friends to lunch and dinner and then crossing the Holy Door together. It was the evangelising group of the archdiocese of Cardiff that thought of sharing a meal as a way to bring back people who have walked away from faith, and the idea will be launched in all the parishes this week-end, supported by archbishop George Stack’s pastoral message about the importance of the Jubilee of Mercy. From Monday 19th September to Friday 23rd September, people can attend Mass and Adoration and then have lunch, a snack or dinner as well, in several churches of the archdiocese, but the leaflets that will be handed out and that contain the week’s programme explain that the devotees must go there with a guest, not on their own. “We have worked hard to prepare this mission”, reads the leaflet that will be handed out at Mass, “and that’s why it is so important to invite the right people. Remember. You must not come on your own as an onlooker, you must bring someone, maybe a relative who is Catholic but does not participate in the life of the parish, or a friend or workmate who has said he is interested in faith or that he likes Pope Francis or St Teresa of Calcutta. Even if it’s not easy, just try!”.
