(from our correspondents in Krakow) “I know that you have gathered in Texas, very close to Mexico, very close to Latin America”. This is the beginning of the message that Pope Francis has addressed to the young people of the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas, who have gathered together to spiritually join their peers who are now in Krakow for WYD. “I know that you have gathered to spiritually participate in the World Youth Day in Krakow”, the Pope continued in his message in Spanish. “I want to be close to you. I want to tell you to always look forward, to the horizon; never let life put walls in front of you, but look always towards the horizon. May you always have the courage to want more, and more, and more… with courage, but at the same time, never forget to look back at the legacy you have received from your ancestors, from your grandparents, from your parents; the legacy of faith, the faith that is now in your hands as you look forward”. “Play life to the full!”, the invitation of Pope Francis. “Today, take life as it comes and do good to others. In the match that is being played in the world today, there is no room for bench players: either you play first string, or you are out! Remember the legacy you have received, look ahead, acknowledge reality and make it progress, make it fruitful, make it productive! God calls you to be fruitful! God calls you to communicate that life! God calls you to build hope. God calls you to receive mercy and give mercy. God calls you to be happy. Do not be afraid! Play life to the full! This is life!”.
