French Bishops: website “luttercontrelapedophilie.catholique.fr” online from today

The website luttercontrelapedophilie.catholique.fr sponsored by the French Bishops’ Conference to coordinate, improve, and strengthen action against child abuse in the Church of France is now up and running. According to the president of the French Bishops, Mgr. Georges Pontier, the website is one of the instruments that the Church of France has equipped herself with to counter child abuse, so that as many people as possible will be able to “access content and know how to get in contact, if they need to. We hope that this will help restore confidence and trust in our Church, as our mission is to proclaim God’s love always and in every occasion”. Thanks to a geographical map of France, the website enables the victims or their relatives to send their witness directly to the bishop of the diocese involved in the facts. The website also provides an email address paroledevictimes@cef.fr which became operational on 12 April and is monitored directly by the French Bishops’ Conference. The website also provides a number of other documents on child abuse (child abuse and society; understanding child abuse; child abuse and faith), as well as a section entitled “How to act?” with suggestions for prevention, help on how to identify the phenomenon, and the procedure to follow to report a case and take action. Finally, the section entitled “L’Église face à la pédophilie” details the measures taken by the Church of France.
