The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity will be holding a “moment of prayer” for the intentions of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church to show the “spiritual closeness of the Catholic Church to the Orthodox Church”. The event will take place on Saturday, 11 June, at 5pm at the Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, where Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Vatican Dicastery, will celebrate the Vespers. “From 19 to 27 June 2016 – reads a statement from the Pontifical Council –, the Orthodox Academy of Crete will host the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church, which will bring together all Orthodox Churches for the first time in centuries”.
