Slovakia: Children´s summer University to focus on “Travelling around the world”

(Sir Europe – Bratislava) – “Travelling around the world” is the main topic of this year’s edition of the project Children’s Summer University organized by the Catholic University of Ruzomberok. Dozens of pupils aged 8-14 will meet at its premises on 4 July to spend almost a week learning and playing. “The aim of the project is to offer children quality education in a slightly different way from the one that is used in basic schools during the academic year”, explain the organizers. Pupils will participate in interesting workshops on biology, social work, religion, art and other subjects, visit the Castle of Spis – the largest in Central Europe – and the Holy Doors of Mercy in Spisska Kapitula. According to Silvia Kascakova, coordinator of the Children’s Summer University, the project is beneficial not only to children, but also to university students from the faculties of Arts and Letters and Pedagogy who organize events and activities for little students: “It is an opportunity for them to experience children’s enthusiasm, be inspired by it, and gain practical skills in teaching”. The project will culminate on 8 July with a conference and a graduation ceremony. For more information: www.ku.sk.
