Bosnia and Herzegovina: two thousand young people visited Shrine of Komušina ahead of WYD

Over two thousand young people (including 150 youths who will attend World Youth Day in Poland) participated in the 45th edition of the “Youth Day” in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, 28 May. The event traditionally takes place on the last Saturday of May. The venue was the Marian Shrine of Komušina-Kondzilo which hosted young people coming from all over the country. The event on Saturday was preceded by a prayer vigil on Friday, 27 May, which was also attended by Card. Vinko Puljić, archbishop of Sarajevo, who celebrated mass and led participants in prayer and reflection the following day. The programme included testimonies from young people engaged in social work among the poor and moments of celebration. “This Day – Card. Puljić told young people – is extremely significant as it takes place in the Holy Year of Mercy. For this reason, moved by faith, we will reflect on Pope Francis’ message on the occasion of WYD in Krakow: Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”. “In this shrine dedicated to Our Lady – he added – we will try to discover the joy of God’s forgiveness through a sincere and honest confession. This wonderful event should help us open our hearts and our souls so that we may forgive others and become peacemakers. May this pilgrimage renew you in the faith, and give you courage for life; and may you build with enthusiasm a future of trust in the goodness of God.
