Portugal: Culture Pastoral National Day in Fatima

Next 4 June the 12th National Day of Culture Pastoral is taking place at “Domus Carmeli”, Fatima. “Convergences of culture and economy with relevant implications and challenges” will be examined. In a press release, Portuguese National Secretariat for Culture Pastoral (SNPC) says that the main objective of the meeting is “facing the theme through a Christian perspective”, trying to understand “its ethic and social problems”, and to point out “new opportunities for a fruitful interaction of the two sectors”. “Do economy and culture live and survive in different fields and opposite regimes, or do economic and cultural life intertwine?” it is said in the note from the Catholic organisation. Apart from the presence of the current State Counsellor António Lobo Xavier, the programme of the event will include “different specialists, from academic research to business world”. During the initiative, the short film “Ascension” will also be shown; this film was awarded the Árvore da Vida 2016 by the Portuguese Church in the IndieLisboa Film Festival. It was also selected for the Cannes Critics Week and will be presented by film director Pedro Peralta.
