Youth: Strasbourg getting ready to host 7,500 under-30s to discuss the future of Europe

(Strasbourg) 7,500 young people expected to arrive in Strasbourg on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st May for the second “Eye – The European Youth Event”. The European Parliament HQ will open their doors to the under-30s coming from the 28 EU member states and another 11 European countries to discuss the present and the future of European integration from a young perspective; the ideas and proposals that will come out of such 2-day event will be taken up and submitted to the EU institutions. The focus will be on: “Together we can make a change”. Discussions will revolve around five key topics: “War and peace, prospects for a peaceful world”; “Apathy or participation, strategy for a lively democracy”; “Exclusion or access, stop youth unemployment”; “Stagnation or innovation, tomorrow’s employment world”; “Failure or success, new roads to a sustainable Europe”. The schedule includes 150 side events with the participants, including auditions, workshops, lectures, role-play, debates. The average age of the subscribers is 21; 56% are girls and 44% are boys.
