Pope Francis: Audience, “ignoring human suffering means ignoring God”

“The priest and the Levite see, but ignore; they look, but pass by. Yet the only true worship is that which finds expression in service to others”. Pope Francis said this reflecting on the Parable of the Good Samaritan during today’s audience. “We should never forget this”, he said. “Before the suffering of so many people who are experiencing hunger, violence, injustice, we should not just look”. “Ignoring human suffering means ignoring God!”, Pope Francis remarked. “If I do not reach out to that man, that woman, that child, to that elderly man or woman who are suffering, then I am not getting closer to God”.
