EU Parliament: inter-religious dialogue against radicalisation. Tajani: “He who shoots in the name of God shoots at God”

(Brussels) “The highest number of victims of extremist violence and Islamic terrorism are Muslims themselves: we must join forces and report, all together, all the forms of violence that seek religious justification”. With this comment, the deputy president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, opens the workshop that will take place in the Brussels premises of the EU Assembly this afternoon (3-7 pm) about radicalisation. “I believe that Muslim communities in Europe and in the world share this spirit. The goal of this conference is to offer a chance to tell experiences of opposition to religion-inspired radicalism and hatred. He who shoots in the name of God shoots at God”. Guest speakers will include: the head of the Belgian Federal Police department, Luc Van der Taelen, the general manager of the European Muslim Network, Malika Hamidi, the founder of the youth association for peace “Imad ibn Ziaten”, Latifa Ibn Ziaten, and the co-founder of Unity of Faiths, Shamender Talwar. The conference will be opened by the president of the EU Parliament, Martin Schulz, and by Tajani himself. Other guests will include the deputy president of the EU Commission, Frans Timmermans, the president of the European Conservative and Reformist Group, Syed Kamall, the president of the women’s Rights Commission, Garcia Perez, and the deputy president of the Parliamentary delegation to Maghreb, Tokia Saifi.
