CCEE: Szeged (Hungary), joint meeting of bishops and delegates for youth pastoral work from 27 April

“Accompanying the response to God’s call”: this is the theme of the Joint meeting of the bishops and national delegates for youth pastoral work and university pastoral work from Europe’s Bishops’ Conferences, which will take place at the Theological Institute’s Gál Ferenc Főiskola (Hungary) from 27 to 29 April to prepare together for the 2017 Symposium. The meeting, jointly organized by the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference and the Diocese of Szeged, will start at 3pm on 27 April. It will be opened by the President of CCEE’s ‘Catechesis, School and University’ Commission, Mgr Marek Jędraszewski, Archbishop of Łódź, who, along with the local bishop hosting the meeting, Mgr László Kiss-Rigó, will welcome participants and the civil and university authorities. The meeting includes a message from Zoltán Balog, Minister of Human Resources, and the addresses of the Rector of Gál Ferenc Főiskola University, Dr. Kozma Gábor, and of the Rector of the University of Szeged, Dr. Gábor Szabó. During the session, there will also be the presentation of the book containing the Acta of the Łódź Congress (16-19 April 2015). The work will then continue behind closed doors. In the course of the meeting, particular attention will be given to listening to the questions of young people and to their problems. Young Europeans, who are actually at the heart of the meeting and the 2017 Symposium, will be the main speakers at the event. “Simply by listening, it is possible to accompany and guide pastorally in a fruitful manner young people and those at university”, said Fr Michel Remery, Vice Secretary General of CCEE. The meeting will also include presentations about some of the innovative projects in the field of university and youth pastoral work, as well a presentation about what is happening in Hungary in these areas. After the meeting in Malta of those responsible for catechesis (1-4 March), this meeting constitutes the second stage of the process leading to the 2017 Symposium in Barcelona focussed on the Christian journeying with young people in catechesis, at school, at university and in youth and vocational pastoral work.
