Switzerland. Bishops, “Yes to human beings, no to pre-implantation diagnostics”

“Yes to human beings, no to pre-implantation diagnostics”. This has been reiterated by the Swiss bishops in the final release they published at the end of their plenary meeting, which took place in Lugano, from 7th to 9th March. “In the run-up to the revision of the Federal Constitution of 2015 – the release says –, the Swiss people will be engaged in a federal round of votes on 5th June about the revision of the act on medically assisted procreation”. The bishops believe that “the provisions of the current bill of law disrespect the immutable dignity of the human being. That’s why they reject such change in the act on medically assisted procreation. Before voting, the Bioethics Committee of the Swiss Bishops Conference will publish a detailed stance about such topic”.
