The Cuban Bishops Conference expresses its joy for the epoch-marking meeting between Pope Francis and Kirill, Metropolitan Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, due to take place on Friday, 12th February, at the airport of the Caribbean Isle, where Pope Francis will stop, en route for Mexico. According to the spokesman of the Cuban Bishops Conference, monsignor José Félix Pérez, “the meeting is an epoch-marking event, and is part of Francis’ efforts to promote a culture of mutual acceptance, dialogue and reconciliation”. The Pope “keeps adding results to his intention to break barriers and bring peoples together”, points out mgr. Pérez, as he did for the situation between the United States and Cuba. According to the spokesman of the Cuban Bishops Conference, during his visit to Cuba Patriarch Kirill might meet some Cuban church leaders, even if this has not been confirmed yet.
