Netherlands: diocese of Amsterdam, “24 hours for the Lord”. Prayer with youth

At the diocesan Sanctuary of Our Lady of Refuge, in Heiloo, diocese of Amsterdam, the 24 hours of prayer for the Lord – initiative supported by Pope Francis – were included in a “weekend of mercy”, with proposals for youth, families, and children. The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matarà, better known as “blue nuns” for the colour of the dress they wear, are expecting youth aged from 12 to 25 from Friday 4 March to take part in the “marathon of prayer”: 24 hours of shared life, at the sanctuary, alternating prayer with entertainment, socialisation and inputs “to learn more about God”. Families will join on Saturday, starting with a meeting of reflection and sharing on the theme “Mercy of God”, led by Sister Maria Iuxta Crucem. On one hand, youth and parents will have room for praying and receiving the sacrament of reconciliation, and on the other hand, children will be busy preparing the musical “God of mercy”, to be staged on Sunday, after the final Eucharist celebration and the common dinner. As for the diocese of Roermond, it will be at the convent of Carmelite nuns in Sittard: personal prayer, music, and community events will alternate from 3:00 p.m. of Friday, 4 March, to 3:00 p.m. of the following day.
