Mercy is “the main road that must be pursued”, because “it can heal wounds and can change history”. This was said by the Pope at the end of the catechesis at today’s general audience, in which he reiterated that “God’s mercy is stronger than men’s sin”. “Jesus Christ is the real king, but His power is completely different”, Francis pointed out: “His throne is the Cross. He is not a king who kills, He gives life, instead. His going towards everyone, especially the weaker ones, defeats loneliness and the deadly fate that sin leads to. With His closeness and tenderness, He brings sinners into the space of grace and forgiveness”. “And this is mercy”, he concluded off the cuff, mentioning the theme of the Jubilee Year.
