Pope Francis: visit to child hospital, not just drugs, “kindness therapy” too

Papa Francesco visita l’Ospedale pediatrico “Federico Gómez” (Città del Messico, 14 febbraio 2016)

“I want to ask God to bless you, to support you and your families, all the people who work in this home and make those smiles keep growing, day after day. To all the people who, not just with drugs, but with ‘kindness therapy’, help so that this time may be lived more cheerfully”. This is what Pope Francis said yesterday to the young patients of the “Federico Gómez” child hospital, one of the steps in his journey through Mexico. “Do you know the South-American Indian man Juan Diego? When young Juan’s uncle was sick, he was very worried and anguished. Right then, Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared and said to him: ‘Do not let your heart be troubled, and let nothing upset you. I am not here, who am your Mother?’. We have our Mother: let’s ask her to offer us to Jesus, His Son. Let’s close our eyes and ask her what our heart wishes for today, and then let’s say, together: Hail Mary…”. Finally: “May the Lord and Our Lady of Guadalupe be always with you. Thanks so much! And please don’t forget to pray for me”.
