Czech Republic: xvi edition of Epiphany Collection with record-high solidarity

(Bratislava) – Over 96 million CZK (€2.55 million) have been raised during the Epiphany Collection organized by Caritas Czech Republic. People in all dioceses of Bohemia and Moravia have shown a record high solidarity. This result is proof of the generosity of our citizens. Money is not just a tool of assistance, but an obligation for us all to do our best in all areas and show solidarity with people in need”, says Lukas Curylo, director of Caritas, specifying that special attention will be paid to socially excluded groups of people, mothers with children in need, seniors, disabled, and seriously ill persons, and also to developing social projects for children in South America. According to Lukas Curylo, around 65% of the money raised will return to the region where it was collected to support local projects. 20% will be spent on projects run by the diocesan offices of Caritas, and 10% will go to humanitarian aid and the development of social projects abroad. “We also thank all the carollers – over 60 thousand volunteers – who participated in this year’s edition of the project and helped to fill the 21 thousand collection boxes”, said the coordinators of the carolling campaign.
