Churches-EU: Brussels, meeting between religious communities and EU institutions about the problem of migration

(Brussels) “Migration, social inclusion, European values: from words to facts”: this is the key topic of the meeting that takes place in Brussels once a year between the EU institutions and the believers’ communities of the European Union under art. 17 of the Lisbon Treaty. The Catholic Church will be represented by two of the deputy presidents of Comece, Jean Kockerols (auxiliary bishop of Brussels – Belgium) and Czeslaw Kozon (bishop of Copenhagen – Scandinavian Bishops Conference). They will be meeting at 9.30 am at the Berlaymont, the headquarters of the European Commission, where the leaders of the main religions will be received by the interim deputy president, Frans Timmermans. The meeting will start at 10.15 am with a round of talks between the leaders of the EU institutions and the leaders of the religious communities. A joint press conference will be held at 12.00, followed by a business lunch, then the closing of the meeting at 02.00 pm.
