Comece: plenary meeting in Brussels about the problem of poverty. Mass in the Dominican church tonight

(Brussels) The plenary meeting of Comece (Commission of the EU Bishops Conferences) will be starting in Brussels today, with the bishops coming from the EU member states. The meeting will end on Friday 28th October. The main topic will be “poverty”: to what extent the economic and employment crisis affected the European families? How many people are poor or on the verge of poverty in the EU? What to do, on a national and EU scale, to fight poverty? What measures is the European Union taking to support people in need? What role should be played by the Church and by its charitable agencies? Such topics will be discussed with the help of experts and professionals. Tonight, the bishops will attend Mass in the Dominican church (7.00 pm) in avenue de la Renaissance in the Belgian capital.
