Slovakia: candle for unborn children to be lit in over 500 parishes

(Bratislava) – “We want to remember children who could not be born because of voluntary or spontaneous abortion, pray for their parents and for all those who perform abortions. Mercy, forgiveness and prayer represent the spiritual dimension of our project”, says Marcela Dobesova, president of the biggest pro-life platform in Slovakia, commenting on the 14th edition of the campaign “Candle for unborn children”. The pro-life project culminates in over 500 parishes of all Catholic dioceses in the country these days. Along with a strong spiritual dimension, the emphasis is put on two other aspects – pro-life education and fundraising. “Money raised through this campaign helps us to professionalize our efforts. We need skilled experts to be able to bring sound arguments in the area of the protection of life from the moment of conception. We are glad to say that the atmosphere in our society is slowly changing from pro-choice to pro-life, and we feel the vocation to continue with this trend and support it”, adds Marcela Dobesova. Symbolic candles with the logo of the campaign can be bought and lit on 2 November in memory of all the children who have lost their lives before having a chance to be born.
