Slovakia: Catholic Church to celebrate “Catholic University Sunday”

(Bratislava) The last Sunday of January will be dedicated to prayers and support for the only Catholic university in Slovakia – the Catholic University (CU) of Ruzomberok. According to its rector Jozef Jarab, the year 2015 was rather turbulent for this educational institution, as the results of the audit of the Bishops’ Conference and the outcome of a complex accreditation revision have not met the expectations. “We want to preserve and develop what is good, and patiently, led by truth and responsibility, we want to eliminate everything that is negative by taking appropriate measures, so that the Catholic University can improve its position among Slovak universities”, says the rector. The fact that the CU Faculty of Arts and Letters is the second best faculty of its kind among all Slovak universities, and that the Faculty of Pedagogy ranks third, gives well-grounded hope for a good future development. The gates of the university will open to all candidates for study on 9 February, and its management believes that many of them will make the decision to become a part of this academic institution.
