Moneyval: approval of Holy See’s second “Report”

In Strasbourg, yesterday, the Plenary Meeting of Moneyval – the Council of Europe’s Committee of experts on the evaluation of anti-money-laundering measures and the financing of terrorism – approved the second “Progress Report of the Holy See – Vatican City State. The adoption of this new report, which follows the adoption of the “Mutual Evaluation Report” of 4th July 2012 as well as the first “Progress Report” of 9th December 2013, is part of the standard procedure of Moneyval Committee for any member state. “The Moneyval Committee – states a release posted today by the Newsroom of the Holy See – welcomed the results of the continued efforts made by the Holy See and the Vatican City State to further strengthen its institutional, legal and operational frameworks, to prevent and fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism”. “This newer Progress Report confirms that the Holy See has implemented a working, effective and sustainable system to prevent and fight against financial crime”, stated monsignor Antoine Camilleri, undersecretary for relations with the states and head of the delegation of the Holy See and the Vatican City State at the plenary meeting of the Moneyval Committee.
